Leguillette Romelot "Festival" Cépages d'Autrefois NV | Charly-sur-Marne, Champagne
Six grapes. One bottle. A celebration of everything Champagne used to be. "Cépages d'Autrefois" means grapes of yesteryear - and Leguillette Romelot has done something rare: they brought back Arbanne, Petit Meslier and Pinot Blanc, three varieties that nearly disappeared from Champagne, and blended them with the classic trio of Chardonnay, Meunier and Pinot Noir. The result is a wine that tastes like no other.
About the Producer Champagne Leguillette Romelot is a small family house based in Charly-sur-Marne in the Vallée de la Marne, farming with a genuine commitment to sustainability - this cuvee is certified HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) and VDC, reflecting their respect for the land and the vines that grow old varieties most producers have long abandoned.
Winemaking A true six-grape assembly, balancing the structure of Pinot Noir and Meunier with the finesse of Chardonnay and the distinctive aromatics of Pinot Blanc, Arbanne and Petit Meslier. The wine is crafted as a Brut, designed to showcase the full aromatic complexity of its rare blend.
A note on sweetness Brut: Less than 12 g/l. The gold standard - crisp, dry, and highly versatile with food.
Country: France | Region: Vallée de la Marne, Champagne | Grapes: Pinot Blanc, Arbanne, Petit Meslier, Chardonnay, Meunier, Pinot Noir | Style: Brut | Certification: HVE, VDC
Tasting Note Luminous straw yellow in the glass with energetic fine bubbles. The nose is dynamic and pure - iodine, orange blossom, fresh almond and lemon, opening up with air to reveal linden, vineyard peach, passion fruit, pineapple and soft spices. The palate is creamy and lush, with bright citrus acidity, finishing long with elegant exotic and iodine notes.
Primary Flavors: Orange blossom, fresh almond, passion fruit, lemon, linden
Food Pairing: Cheese gougere, pork curry, lamb ragout, sushi, passion fruit desserts
Fun Fact: Arbanne and Petit Meslier are two of the rarest grapes in all of Champagne - at one point nearly extinct. Only a handful of producers still grow them. This bottle is their comeback story.
