Neumeister KTCN Sauvignon Blow 2023 – Steiermark

KTCN (Christoph Neumeister) teamed up with friends for something deliberately unruly. "Blow" refers to the unfiltered, unfined winemaking, where everything stays in the wine and nothing is blown off. The result is a hazy, punchy, wildly alive Sauvignon Blanc that tastes like Styria decided to start a band and skip rehearsal.

Appearance: Hazy pale gold, deliberately cloudy, the unfiltered badge worn proudly.

Winemaking & Aging: A natural wine collaboration by Christoph Neumeister. Unfiltered ("Blow") and unfined, re-creating the 80s Styrian winemaking style naturally. Spontaneous fermentation. BIO certified.

Country / Region / Grapes / ABV: Austria, Steiermark | Sauvignon Blanc 100% | ~12% ABV

Tasting Note: Citrus, lemon curd, and wild herbs on the nose with a yeasty, slightly funky edge. The palate is juicy and alive, linear and punchy, with minerals coursing through it. Unconventional and exhilarating.

Primary Flavors: Lemon curd, citrus zest, wild herbs, minerals, light yeasty funk

Food Pairing: Fried chicken, fish tacos, fried artichokes, calamari, or anything you'd eat standing up

Fun Fact: The "Blow" in the name references the old-school Styrian winemaking practice of blowing carbon dioxide into barrels to prevent oxidation, a technique that kept wines naturally funky and alive. Neumeister revives it here as an homage to that pre-intervention era.
