Pittnauer Rosé Dogma – Burgenland
This is rosé for those who think they don’t like rosé. From Pittnauer’s uncompromising Dogma line is a zero sulfur, amphora-aged, and crafted to challenge everything you thought you knew about pink wine. Complex, earthy, and seriously structured.
Appearance: Deep salmon to light ruby; slightly hazy with natural depth of color
Winemaking & Aging: 100% Blaufränkisch fermented and aged in amphora with zero sulfur added. Unfined and unfiltered, preserving full texture, wild character, and earthy complexity rarely found in rosé.
Country / Region / Grapes / ABV: Austria, Burgenland | Blaufränkisch 100% | ~12% ABV
Tasting Note: A serious and contemplative rosé. Aromas of red fruit, dried herbs, and a distinct earthiness open up beautifully with air. On the palate, it’s structured and textured, more like a light red than a conventional rosé with a long, mineral, savory finish.
Primary Flavors: Red fruit, dried herbs, earth, clay, light smoke
Food Pairing: Grilled lamb, mushroom dishes, aged cheeses, charcuterie, roasted vegetables
Fun Fact: The Dogma line gets its name from Pittnauer’s strict philosophy: zero sulfur, zero compromises. Amphora aging is an ancient winemaking vessel that gives the wine a unique mineral texture that you simply cannot get from oak or steel.
