Roger Manceaux Brut Nature 1er Cru | Rilly-la-Montagne, Champagne
Brut Nature because no sugar was added at disgorgement. That's not just a winemaking choice, it's a statement of character: frank, unfiltered, and completely itself. Built on the same base as Roger Manceaux's signature Cuvée de Réserve, this is Champagne with structure and personality in equal measure.
About the Producer Champagne Roger Manceaux has been crafting grower Champagne in Rilly-la-Montagne since 1947, working exclusively with Premier Cru fruit from the Montagne de Reims. The house motto says it best: "L'éclat du vin dans toute sa pureté" — the brilliance of wine in all its purity.
Winemaking Assembled from 45% Pinot Noir 1er Cru, 25% Meunier 1er Cru, and 30% Chardonnay 1er Cru, on the same base as the Brut Cuvée de Réserve. No sugar is added at disgorgement, letting the wine's natural balance and vinous structure speak without any correction.
Country: France | Region: Champagne | Grapes: 45% Pinot Noir, 25% Meunier, 30% Chardonnay | Style: Brut Nature
Tasting Note Bright pale gold with thousands of fine, lively bubbles. The nose is open and expressive: fresh apricot, peach, and plum up front, giving way to more mature hints of quince and blackberry. On the palate, freshness and vivacity carry a fine, robust texture with remarkable balance. A Champagne dominated by the consistency and grip of its Pinot Noirs, with real personality and length.
Primary Flavors: Apricot, peach, plum, quince, blackberry
Food Pairing: Summer aperitif, light quiches, pizza bites, salted petit fours, fresh charcuterie
Fun Fact: The "RM" on the label stands for Récoltant-Manipulant, meaning Roger Manceaux grows their own grapes and makes their own wine from start to finish. In a region dominated by large negociant houses, that independence is something worth celebrating.
